Is TLC's Extreme Couponing Possible In Canada?

As we have seen on TLC's Extreme Couponing you can save more than 90 percent on your grocery bills, but this is usually in the USA. Is this possible in Canada? Canadians are going through tough times as well and need the best deals. We just have to be a little more crafty about it. That is what this site is here to help you do. The way to do this is to use COUPONS!

Coupons usually come out about every 12 weeks, so cut, clip and organize them in a way that works for you. I like big binders with each section divided. Some Extreme Couponers have even gone so far as to make a list of each isle in the grocery store with each product in that isle! I haven't gone that far yet, but we will see!

Find sites that will mail you coupons like, http://www.webasaver/, and many more. I will post these under the "Tips and Tricks" tab.

 Top 5 Marked Up Items:

1. Bulk Products.

Many of us shop at wholesale stores like Costco . You can save a lot of money by purchasing items in bulk, and grocery stores are starting to  paying attention. Most grocery stores now offer "bulk " aisles. Bulk automatically means cheap, right? Not always! Check your coupons, you can usually save more by using them against smaller products.Do your math!
2. Bottled Water.

People are still buying bottled water, either because they think it is safer than tap or they can take it on the go, even for emergency prepardness. There is actually a 4000% markup on this! Crazy! I still buy it for emergencies and store it in the garage but just make sure you clip a coupon and do not pay full price!

3. Over The Counter Meds.

Brand names are 30 to 40 % more expensive than generic brands. Why is this? Brand names spend money on advertising, and packaging. Pretty simple. That is usually the only difference. Just make sure that you compare labels or ask a pharmesist to be sure.

4. Organics.

Organic produce will cost you. If buying organic is a priority for you, you can still avoid the markup. Buy your organic produce at the farmers market. It's cheaper, and you'll support local business.

5. Cereal.

Cereal is a super conveniant breakfast item. Children love it and it's easy to prepare. The markup is a result of advertising and marketing costs. You can usually buy in bulk , Save On Foods usually offer a buy 3 get X amount of bonus points and if you shop wisely the cerial that you buy may have coupons inside the box that you can use on your next shopping trip!
